Why a specialized English language school?
When choosing a school for yourself or your child, you'll probably come across offers teaching eight, ten, even twenty languages. It sounds impressive - but it raises the question of how much attention, time, and expertise is left for the one language that actually matters to you.
ProEduca is the only school in Valjevo dedicated exclusively to English. That's not a coincidence or a limitation - it's a deliberate choice.
Everything we do, every teaching material we choose, every method we apply, and every professional development course we complete - all of it goes into one language.
What specialization actually means for you
A methodology built for English. English isn't learned the same way as German or Italian. It has its own challenges - pronunciation that doesn't match spelling, tenses that don't exist in Serbian, phrasal verbs. When you focus on just one language, you know exactly where students get stuck and how to help them.
Teaching materials chosen with purpose. We don't use the first textbook that arrives from a distributor. Materials are chosen based on the age, level, and goal of each group.
Continuity from day one to certification. A child who starts with us at age five can progress, without interruption, all the way to an internationally recognized Cambridge certificate - through one system and one methodology.
A teacher who is a specialist, not a generalist. Which brings us to the most important part.
About the Teacher
Jelena Petrović - teacher of English language and literature, graduated from the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade.
Qualifications and Certificates
Teaching English to Young Learners
University of Oregon and U.S. Department of State
A ten-week program specialized in teaching methodology for young learners, jointly certified by the U.S. Department of State's Office of English Language Programs and the University of Oregon's American English Institute. The program covers 100 teaching hours (10 CEU units), carries two official seals (the U.S. Department of State and the University of Oregon), is entered by competitive application in Serbia rather than open registration, and was completed in December 2015.
This is why working with the youngest students here is never improvised - behind every lesson in our Playgroup lies a methodology developed and tested at American universities.
Certified Teacher Trainer (TeachingEnglish — Trainer Development Course, British Council)
A five-month British Council program (February–June 2015) for teachers who train other teachers. Certified by the British Council Serbia.
In other words: I don't just teach students - I also train fellow teachers of English.
ELTons - International Recognition
Finalist of the 2016 ELTons Award, together with colleague Marijana Nikolić, in the Innovation in English Language Teaching category.
The ELTons are the British Council's international awards for innovation in English language teaching - the most prestigious recognition in the field worldwide. Entries come from dozens of countries, with only a handful of projects reaching the finals in each category.
Pedagogical Advisor
Title awarded by decision of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia, 2015.
This title is granted based on proven results in teaching and contributions to the development of educational practice, and is held by only a small number of teachers in Serbia.
Author and Co-author of Accredited Teacher Training Seminars
Two professional development programs for primary and secondary school teachers, supported by the Institute for the Improvement of Education (ZUOV), 2016.
One seminar is general in scope, the other narrowly focused and dedicated exclusively to English language teaching.
Early in my career, my lessons - Lateral Thinking Stories - were published on onestopenglish, the educational platform of Macmillan Education, used by English teachers around the world.
The Experience Behind Every Lesson
ProEduca was founded in 2017, but the experience behind every lesson goes back much further - over 29 years of teaching.
What sets ProEduca Valjevo apart isn't just years of experience, but the fact that all of that experience is focused in one direction: how English is best taught, and how it's learned fastest and most enjoyably.
Student Results
In May 2026, our youngest students took the Cambridge Starters and Movers exams for the first time. Of twenty children, seventeen earned the maximum number of shields - 15 out of 15.
These exams have no pass/fail in the traditional sense; every child receives a certificate showing the number of shields earned, and the goal is for a child's first exam experience to be pleasant and encouraging.
A result like this means the children went into the exam prepared and confident.
All the students I have individually prepared for B2 First so far have passed with excellent results.
The numbers are intentionally modest - I run the school myself and work with only as many students as I can properly look after.
That's exactly where the difference lies.
